La Caletta

Siniscola

From the Port of La Caletta to the village of Santa Lucia a long beach of soft, white sand outlines the wide gulf in the municipality of Siniscola.

This is a particularly family-friendly beach that is easy to reach by car or by taking the bike path from La Caletta to the pine forest next to the mouth of the pond. Equipped establishments occupy only part of the beach, allowing free use for much of the beach.

Five kilometers of soft golden sand, clear blue sea and shallow water, ideal for children. La Caletta is a long, wide beach that starts from the small seaside village of the same name, a hamlet of Siniscola, one of the major centers of the Baronìa, and extends to the pond of su Graneri. A pine forest surrounds the ‘big beach’ – so called to differentiate it from the other Siniscola beaches – almost contiguous with the beach of San Giovanni di Posada: they are interrupted only by the modern tourist port of La Caletta, rich in services: sailing, surfing and diving school, equipment rental, departure for boat or dinghy excursions.

The shoreline is often windswept, not surprisingly the ‘big beach’ is equipped for water sports, including kite and windsurfing. La Caletta offers ample parking, a regular destination for campers and campers, and nearby there are accommodations for all targets. In the village you will find all services, including car and bike rentals, restaurants, pizzerias and clubs.

For thirty kilometers the coast of Siniscola alternates between landscapes of smooth rocks and white beaches. La Caletta occupies almost half of the total 12 kilometers of fine sand. Heading south you will come across Santa Lucia, another characteristic fishing village originating on the island of Ponza, founded around a 16th-century Aragonese tower. Then you will find the ‘confetti beach‘, s’Ena e Sa Chitta, three kilometers of white sand , enclosed by rocks near an old lighthouse, off which is the small Isola Rossa. A little further south are the very white dunes and centuries-old junipers of Capo Comino. Continuing on you can see first Bèrchida, for many the most beautiful beach in the world, then theBiderosa Oasis, another magical place. It is a coastal forest of over a thousand hectares, Siniscola’s pride and joy in terms of the variety of flora and fauna it preserves, overlooking five coves, including the enchanting beach of Bidderosa.
