Siniscola has become famous for a very special fruit that grows only in its territory and in very few other areas of Sardinia. It is an ancient fruit with uncertain and almost unknown origins. It was once widely used in cooking, and today, after several years, its great importance from the point of view of biodiversity and the strong contribution it makes to local gastronomy has been recognized. È Sa Pompìa, (Citrus limon var. pompia Camarda, 2015), Until July 2015 it was referred to with the nomen nudum of Citrus monstruosa in the Sardinian language sa pompìa. A citrus endemic to Sardinia, found particularly in the municipality of Siniscola, specimens are also found in the municipalities of Posada, Torpè and Orosei.

Traditional Siniscolese recipes consist of sweets in which the fruit is candied with an elaborate preparation or still processed as jams, marmalades or popular liqueurs.
