Populous and traditional agricultural center of Baronia in east-central Sardinia, in which part of the beautiful Tepilora nature reserve falls
From its built-up area you will enjoy a panorama that encompasses to the north the Gulf of Olbia and theTavolara marine area, to the south the Gulf of Orosei and the Supramonte of Dorgali. Enveloped by granite hills, Torpè is a center of nearly three thousand inhabitants near the northeastern coast of Sardinia, speaking Logudorese, and documented since the 12th century as a locality of the Posada curatorial district – a neighboring municipality today – within the giudicato of Gallura. Amid the narrow streets of the historic center, which inspired 20th-century Sardinian painter Mario Delitala, stands the beautiful parish church of Nostra Signora degli Angeli. Included in the solemn feast for the patron saint are folkloric performances. Not far away appears the church of St. Anthony, in whose honor the event par excellence takes place: the scenic fires of St. Anthony Abbot, on the night of Jan. 16, with religious ceremony accompanied by cake and wine tasting, sounds and dancing.
